Ed Map
Ed Map is on a mission to increase the value of educational content by simplifying its discovery, management, and delivery. When they asked Extra Nerds to work on their website and to add a page with specific functionality requirements, we were happy to help. They commented that “setting up time and working with the assigned Nerd was very easy and worked well with my schedule. Sharron was very knowledgeable and easy to work with.” We enjoyed working with Ed Map as well and we hope to do business again.
T’ruah, a website dedicated to the Rabbinic call for human rights, needed a site redesign and migration to WordPress as well as a review and fix of a Facebook share issue. Extra Nerds was happy to help and was successful in implementation on both counts.
Heart of it all, a vaping products retailer out of Columbus, Ohio, asked Extra Nerds for a re-design of their logo, bottle labels, and the website. The logo came first, of course, and it was very well received. The website, built using Squarespace, was to be simple and easy to navigate, but also attractive at a reasonable price. It also needed to have a functional e-commerce element. Due to some unforeseen limitations, we ended up connecting the client’s existing PayPal account to accommodate online sales. Now that the site is complete, Extra Nerds continues to provide ongoing site maintenance and seasonal sale updates as needed.
Another collaboration with long-time partner and local design company, Kantner Design, Extra Nerds helped with a website re-design in WordPress for local business Cornwell Properties. We also provided some elements of functionality such as detailed Google Maps integration. This was a great project and when we asked our partner what he thought of our work for Cornwell, he stated that he has “been loving the progress on the website on the development side. So far I am very pleased with the work".
McArthur Lumber and Post’s website is a great example of our partnership with local design firm, Kantner Design. The look of the site is crisp, clean, and straightforward, without being at all boring. Extra Nerds was involved with providing work on the components such as the shopping cart. All in all, due to another collaborative effort, this site looks great and has the functionality it needs to help the business in its success.
We asked the owner of Kantner Design with whom we have collaborated on many projects (including this one), what he thought of our work. "Steven from Bradbury really liked the website but…since I am actually the client on these projects, especially since my name is on the line... I would say that both of these projects were very easy and painless and that the Nerds are a delight to work with. So far all of the work that Extra Nerds has done has been worthy of the reputation that Kantner Design has in the community”. Thanks Brandon. We enjoy working with you as well.
Live Healthy Appalachia
Local nonprofit Live Healthy Appalachia embraces such a great mission: To improve the health and wellbeing in the Appalachian Region through education, outreach, and advocacy emphasizing nutrition and other lifestyle choices. Extra Nerds certainly supports this enterprise and was excited to work with LHA staff to update some of the content on their website and add elements of functionality, such as a shopping cart. Upon completion of the project, the executive director stated that "I really enjoyed working with everyone at Extra Nerds! You have all been incredibly responsive and I feel like the project took very little time to complete."
Habitat for Humanity
The Athens Habitat for Humanity organization needed an overhaul of their website. To accomplish this, we partnered with a local design firm. In addition to the practical and attractive layout provided by Kantner Design, we added enhanced elements of functionality. We hope that this collaborative effort and improved web presence helps Habitat move forward with their mission!
Charlotte Residential Services
Charlotte Residential Services has been serving realtors and homeowners since 1999, specializing in residential property maintenance and repairs. This is our second project for them and we hope they like working with us as much as we enjoy working with them. When asked what they thought of our work, the owner stated that “the only thing that could make things better is if Sid and I could ever meet and I would buy him a beer. You all need to cast your service provider attitude in platinum and market it. As Sid knows, I am a little more than dissatisfied with my last service provider and their lack of and/or competent response. I found Sid via the online market years ago and have been impressed ever since. Thank you all!”.
Athens Themes
Athens Themes is an online gift store, started in 2000. The owner is an entrepreneurial importer, whole seller, retailer of eco-friendly home and garden wares, organic medicinal herbs, and culinary spices. Themes was born from his extensive travels. As part of his import business, he is constantly attending trade-shows in many parts of the world. When we were approached about doing some work on their website and helping with the logo, we were pleased to step up and help out. After all, we love our local client base!
SDM software
SDM software, a worldwide leader in managing group policy, has contracted with Extra Nerds on multiple projects in order to create brand new software to be packaged and sold as part of their services. The first new program assists network administrators with managing components such as user permissions and access controls. “I really appreciate all the great work you’ve done on this,” stated the client. “I’m hopeful it’s a big hit in the market because I think it’s a great product!” The second program allowed administrators to manage and report on group policy objects within their organizations. We hope for continued success with this fantastic client!
King Family Farm
King Family Farm officially began in 2002, though the founders have been involved in agriculture their entire lives. Both JB & Charlene have ancestors from southeastern Ohio who were involved in agriculture, some since the 1800s, so their roots run deeply. Still, they felt the effects of a fluctuating market. Through innovation, however, they persevered and became successful. Fast forward to 2014 and, their business continuing to grow, they contacted Extra Nerds to modernize their website, including the addition of e-commerce capabilities.
Overaa Construction
In 1902, Norwegian immigrant Carl Overaa came to the U.S. to pursue his dream in the “land of opportunity” and opened a small construction business in Richmond, California. Fast forward to 2014 and Overaa Construction is now a fourth generation, family-owned and operated design-build general contractor. A longtime client of Extra Nerds, we have completed two projects for them and now they have re-engaged our Chief Nerd on a consistent IT support and consulting basis to update their weather reporting application with additional functionality.
Appalachian Hell Betties
The Appalachian Hell Betties are part of the Roller Derby League and an Athens original. When they said they needed a new website, Extra Nerds again partnered with local firm Kantner Design to create a web presence as exciting and dynamic as they are!
Athens County Historical Society and Museum
The Athens County Historical Society and Museum collects, preserves and displays items of historical interest to Athens County. Their new website is attractive and user-friendly and has some truly fascinating information. The site was a collaborative effort between local company Kantner Design and Extra Nerds. We really like the way it turned out and we think the client does too!
National Alliance on Mental Illness
The Athens branch of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is an important organization and serves as the community’s voice on mental illness by providing support, information and education to local residents. We were more than happy to partner, once again, with Kantner design to create a website for them. It is simple, yet attractive, functional and informative.
Paraco Gas
Paraco Gas is the leading propane gas supplier in the Northeastern United States. Extra Nerds was selected to manage their customer facing website, build a complete self-service customer portal, build internal business apps to help run the business, and advise the client on how to best use technology to their advantage. Most of the work done by Extra Nerds was in their online customer portal. The customer portal allows customers to view the details of their propane service account online, make payments, sign up for pre-buy programs and maintenance agreements, and many other account maintenance functions. On the back-end, the portal integrates with several third party service providers, such as Authorize.net, to process payments, track sales of maintenance agreements, schedule propane deliverys, and much more. The customer portal of this website has become the premier example of what is possible in the propane industry for providing web services to propane customers.
Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development
COAD, also known as the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development, needed a website overhaul. To do this, we partnered with a local design firm to launch the website. The new site is a vast improvement of the previous site. In addition to the slick new design provided by Kantner Design, we added superior functionality, like event registration, checkout capabilities, editing permissions, Google calendar, and more.
Lance’s Trailer Sales
Lance’s Trailer Sales is a locally owned business whose owners needed a website as distinctive as they are. Collaborating with local entity, Kantner Design, once again, Extra Nerds was able to provide this client with quite an eye-catching and comprehensive website.
El Centro
El Centro was so pleased with the first project that we completed for them, they contracted with us a second time. While the first project was essentially a customer tracking database in order to reduce client wait times, this second website and database project was aimed more at branch office enrollment. We’re glad that their business is successful and continuing to grow, and we’re also pleased to be a part of it.
Rocket Nine Solutions
Based in Orange County, California, Rocket Nine Solutions owner Scott Dunn has been helping companies, both local and nationwide, to learn and apply both Scrum and agile principles. Extra Nerds was able to help the company develop their web presence with a new comprehensive site in WordPress. A second phase of the project included the addition of forms, general modifications and A/B testing for website optimization.
Nice & Neat
Nice & Neat is a commercial, residential and industrial cleaning company based in Athens, OH. Extra Nerds was selected to develop an online presence for Nice & Neat from the ground up. We created a new website and wrote all the content for the website after interviewing the company owners. We created a new company logo for the company, which is currently used on their website on painted on the side of their vehicles. We got them set up with a Google Apps account to improve communications and collaboration among themselves and with their customers. We consolidated their email systems into one manageable system based on Google Apps. We established a presence for the company on Facebook by creating a Facebook page and getting the company liked to gain a custom URL. We continue to host the website and maintenance their web and email services, and we advise Nice & Neat ongoing on all technical matters.
El Centro
While this may not look like much, this custom-made database is allowing El Centro, an auto/home, tax preparation, and mortgage/real estate service provider, to keep track of how many clients are in the waiting room and how long they've waited. The goal? Keep wait times as low as possible. Did it work? Well, here's what the client had to say: “I was very pleased with the work Sid and Extra Nerds completed for me. It was really nice to work with a company right here in the states for a really competitive price. I would definitely give ExtraNerds another shot at any upcoming jobs rather than using offshore companies. Thanks again for the great experience.”
Dimentians
Toronto-based Dimentians has been designing and developing dynamic websites for over 18 years. So we were flattered when they called on us to help them design and develop a WordPress website for the Centre for Planetary Science and Exploration at Western University.
SMHC
SMHC, or the Southern Mountain Horse Company, has been raising and showing National Champion Miniature and American Shetland horses for almost 30 years. They have been working with one of our local partners, Kantner Design, and when they needed some WordPress work done to correct some issues on their existing site, Extra Nerds was happy to help. Upon completion of the project, the client stated that "It looks like the issues were fixed properly, and effectively." That was certainly our goal.
Skinner Funeral Home
When Smart Link Solutions needed to enhance a client’s database application, they reached out to Extra Nerds for the job. Skinner Funeral Home needed added functionality, like the ability to play music on a particular page, thumbnails to appear alongside their obituaries, the addition of a guestbook and the flexibility to play video. Our nerds provided that and more for this client.
Kung Fu Creative
Kung Fu Creative, an Arizona-based company, was looking for a "code ninja" to help figure out what was wrong with their client's fashion website. We were able to easily identify what was keeping their pages from loading and fix it - within 48 hours and well below budget.
